Make Your Own - Red Velvet Cookies!


Hey everyone! So after my previous post on "Make Your Own - Peppermint Hot Chocolate" recipe, I'm back to share with you all another recipe for the Christmas, Red Velvet Cookies with Cheese Cream! This is the perfect cookie for Christmas!

I've been loving red velvet cupcakes, but I thought cookie would be a better choice for Christmas party, less messier. This is a very fun to make recipe, click the jump if you would like to find out how to make your own red velvet cookie!


Let me just apologize first for the lack of pictures as baking is making a big mess and also this recipe was taken and modified from the original recipe here.


Alright, let's get started!

First up, the ingredients that you're going to need for the Red Velvet Cookie!

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
Note: the following recipe is of according makes up to 30 cookies, do multiply accordingly if you are preparing more!

First Step: Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
Second Step: Cream butter and sugars together until fluffy in the bowl of an electric mixer. 
Third Step: Add egg and vanilla and combine until smooth. Beat in red food coloring. 
Fourth Step: Stir in cocoa, flour, baking soda and salt until just combined, scraping down the sides when needed. 
Fifth Step: Add in chocolate chips.
Sixth Step: Using a tablespoon, scoop out 1 spoonful of dough and set on baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes.

See what I meant when I say baking makes a big mess? (P.s my little sister is making cupcakes in the background)

Seventh Step: Making your cream cheese frosting! The ingredients used for Cream Cheese Frosting!
  • 200g cream cheese, soften
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups of icing sugar
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons of whipping cream or milk
Using a hand mixer, combine the cream cheese with the icing sugar and add in just enough whipping cream or milk to create a nice spread consistency. If needed, add in more icing sugar.

Final Step: Let the cookies cool completely and spread the cream cheese frosting on the cookies just before serving them. Top with decorative sprinkles if you wish to.

Tips: If topped with cream cheese frosting, the cookies will need to be kept in the refrigerator in a covered container. Bring to room temperature when ready to serve!
