Mani-Monday - Christmas Tree Lightings

Hey everyone, welcome back! It's Monday again and I'm posting a Christmas Nail-Art Tutorial! That's right, Mani-Monday and Christmas Countdown! This is my second post on Christmas Nail-Art, I had previously done a post on called: "Mani-Monday - Winder Wonderland" If you had missed out on it, you can click on the link.

Any ways, today I've created this Nail-Art called 'Christmas Tree Lightings'. I love how pretty LED lights hanging on Christmas Tree looks. So I was inspired to do it on my nails. Well, without the REAL LED lights and electricity of course. I don't want to get electric shock! It is super easy and takes less than 20 minutes to complete. Click on the jump to find out how to create this look for yourself!

First up, the stuffs I used in this Nail-Art! (You may wish to use similar colours or nail polishes of different brands, the nail polishes and tools I use here are all I already owned.)

Here is the list of nail polishes and tools I've used in this tutorial. I will also list in details the codes and etc. (Do note that some products were purchased some time ago or from overseas so you might not be able to get the exact same as I used)
  1. Lovely ME:EX 02 Base Coat - The Face Shop
  2. Bright Yellow Nail Polish (YL702) - The Face Shop
  3. Blood Red Nail Polish (RD301) - The Face Shop
  4. Dark Pink Glitter Nail Polish (FPP403) - Nature Republic
  5. Dark Green Glitter Nail Polish (Cuckoo For This Colour; NL722) - OPI
  6. Super Fast Drying Top Coat - Posh
  7. White Nail Art Pen - KONAD
  8. Paint Brush (Super Fine) - Art Friend
Alright, let's begin! First step, apply Base Coat.

Second step, apply any green nail polish to all your nails. In my case I apply evenly 2 coats of my OPI Cuckoo For This Colour (NL722) nail polish. (I was going to use a bright green colour then I realised this OPI nail polish is much more closer to the actual Christmas tree colour)

Third Step, using my white nail-art pen from KONAD, draw in 'Z' lines like the Tinsel on Christmas Trees. If you do not own any nail-art pen you do not have to buy it, I've tried using tooth-pick before it works equally as well. Dip your tooth-pick into the nail polish and you may begin drawing!

When you all done with all your nails, its time to continue. Step Four, choose a few of your preferred colours for your 'LED light bulbs' and start dotting against the white lines you've created previously. Here, I'm using my paint brush to dot on the 'light bulbs' but a tooth-pick gives a similar effect. The colours I chose for my 'light bulbs' are yellow, red and a glittery dark pink! (The Face Shop: (YL702) Bright Yellow, (RD301) Blood Red Nail Polish; and Nature Republic, (FPP403) Dark Pink Glitter Nail Polish)

a) Dip your paint brush or tooth-pick into the nail polish and draw dots (like below) against the white lines

Extra Tip: If you are using a paint brush, use a small container and pour in nail polish remover, in between changing of colour, slightly clean the brush into the nail polish remover. If you are using a tooth-pick, use a new one for every colour used instead. Or simply use the other end of the tooth-pick.

b) Repeat step 4(a) until you're done doting all the colours

Step Five, wait for about one minute for the nail polish to dry before applying your top coat.

I really love how you can change the look of this Nail-Art by mixing up the colours used. I hope you guys like my Christmas Tree Lightings! (Geez, that's a long name, leave me a comment below if you think that there is a shorter and better name for this Nail-Art!) Also, I just realised it's 2 more Mani-Monday till Christmas~ How exciting!
