Mani-Monday - Winter Wonderland

Hey Girlies! It's Mani-Monday again! And for today it's Christmas Countdown edition! I hope you are counting down together with us for Christmas! I CANNOT, bold cannot, contain my excitement for Christmas! And guys, welcome to our Christmas Countdown series! I thought I will share with all of you, my creation of the 'Winter Wonderland' Nail-Art Tutorial.  It's super easy, I promise. I spent less than 30 minutes to complete. Click on the jump to find out how to create this Nail-Art!
First up, the stuffs I used in this Nail-Art! (You may wish to use similar colours or nail polishes of different brands, the nail polishes and tools I use here are all I already owned.)

Here is the list of nail polishes and tools I've used in this tutorial. I will also list in details the codes and etc. (Do note that some products were purchased some time ago or from overseas so you might not be able to get the exact same as I used)
  1. Nail Sticker (07) - The Face Shop
  2. Light Grey Nail Polish (WH702) - Etude House
  3. Lovely ME:EX 02 Base Coat - The Face Shop
  4. Greyish Glittery Nail Polish (BK901) - The Face Shop
  5. Blood Red Nail Polish (RD301) - The Face Shop
  6. Orange Nail Polish (Mini-size Halloween Collection) - OPI
  7. Shimmery Translucent Nail Polish (WH003) - The Face Shop
  8. Super Fast Drying Top Coat - Posh
  9. White Nail Polish (WH002) - Nature Republic
  10. White and Black Nail Art Pen - Etude House
  11. Paint Brush (Super Fine) - Art Friend

Alright, let's begin! First step, apply Base Coat.

In case you do not know, the reason to apply base coat before the other nail polish is simply to protect your nails. It contains certain proteins, Aloe Vera, Vitamin  E and/ or Calcium that can strengthen nails that are brittle and dry and reduces splitting and peeling. It also prevent dark nail polishes like blue, blacks and red to stain the nail and seep into your nail bed. Also, a base coat act as a primer, ensures a better adhesion of polish to your nails, meaning more uniform application of colour plus it will be longer lasting (slower to chip).

Second step, apply any light grey nail polish to all your nails. In my case I apply evenly 2 coats of my Etude House WH702 Polish. (It is the lightest grey colour nail polish in my collection) If you do not have light grey colour nail polish and do not wish to splurge on new nail polish, alternative is to use a light sky-blue polish.

Third step, drawing snow flakes. Below I've provided pictures that shows you steps in which how I draw my snow flakes. You may also wish to refer to a picture of a snow flake and use for reference while drawing it! If you do not own any nail-art pen you do not have to buy it, I've tried using tooth-pick before it works equally as well. Dip your tooth-pick into the nail polish and you may begin drawing!

Draw a straight line then followed by a cross or 'X'
Start drawing in 'V's into the individual 'wings' to create a more realistic flake
Continue drawing until you get a complete Snow Flake!
I really like the effect of the Snow Flake on my nails so I went on to do the same thing for the nail on my thumb except adding a little more pattern to it by drawing in another half Snow-Flake on the side with little dots around for the tiny snow flakes.

Fourth step, drawing Snow Man.  Below I've provided pictures that shows you steps in which how I draw my snow man. (P.s. I'm really sorry for the blurry photos from here onwards, my camera doesn't focus well!)

First draw the head and body of the snow nan
Draw the hat & 3 tiny dots on the body of the snow man using black nail-art pen
Use a fine paint brush/ tooth-pick, draw the nose (orange nail polish)
and scarf (red nail polish). Add in tiny dots for the 'snowing' effect
Draw in a layer of snow on the ground and tree tweaks
Fifth step, as seen in the above picture, I did a French Mani on my index finger and added in the rose nail-sticker as I wanted to have different effects on all my five fingers. But you can choose to repeat any of snow flake or snow man designs.

Sixth step, I use my The Face Shop BK901, Greyish Glittery Nail Polish and paint it on the top half of the nail to create an effect shown in the picture below:

Final Step, after done with the first 6 steps, I paint a coat of a Shimmery Translucent Nail Polish, The Face Shop WH003, to all of my nails that gives off a Winter feel and top it off with my Fast Drying Top Coat.

The Final Look!
